Across a decade of Dubai projects, Emirates Renovation Designer has used false ceilings to solve very Dubai-specific problems. Developer apartments often come with exposed AC ducting, awkward beams and a single harsh light in the middle of each room. A false ceiling lets us tuck all of that away and replace it with layered lighting — recessed spots for everyday use, hidden cove LEDs for atmosphere, and feature pendants where they matter.
The signature of a high-end interior is not expensive furniture — it is good lighting, and good lighting needs somewhere to hide. Cove lighting set into a perimeter step throws a soft, indirect glow across the ceiling that makes a living room or bedroom feel like a boutique hotel. We design the coves and the wiring together so the effect is seamless.
For the majority of Dubai homes we recommend gypsum board over traditional POP. It goes up faster, creates far less mess in an occupied apartment, and gives a cleaner, more crack-resistant finish that holds up as the building settles and the AC cycles. Where a design calls for sweeping curves or ornate majlis detailing, POP still has its place, and we offer both.
Ceilings are rarely a standalone job. We coordinate them with your lighting plan, your AC, and any painting or flooring happening at the same time, so everything lines up and the room is finished as one. That whole-room thinking is what a specialist team brings that a single trade cannot.

Gypsum board ceilings are pre-manufactured, faster to install and give a very clean, crack-resistant finish. POP (plaster of Paris) is mixed on site and allows more custom curved shapes but takes longer and can crack over time. For most Dubai homes we recommend gypsum board.
Cost depends on the area, the design complexity and the lighting. A simple flat gypsum ceiling costs far less than a multi-level design with cove lighting. We quote per square metre after seeing the room.
